I was so thrilled when my friend Clare and her fiancé Joe got engaged! Even more thrilled when I was asked to be their wedding photographer! We had an incredible time during their engagement session starting at the vineyard and ending on … Continue reading

What an AMAZING show! Thank you to Heather Rodgers, owner of Respond if you please for putting together such an incredible show! Many Thanks to The Heritage Hotel for hosting it as well. Terrific venue, amazing staff, and great location if any of you brides out there are still looking for the perfect rustic atmosphere but don’t want to be outside, you have to check out the Heritage! There were over 100 Brides that came through the doors at the Heritage on Sunday and over 300 people total! We were thrilled to meet so many happy couples, and to see a lot of our favorite vendors! It was an afternoon filled with dance, music, laughter and smiles at The Edmond Town Hall and The Lathrop School of Dance Studios this past Sunday. Sharing Healing Expressive Arts Strength – ‘a title whose acronym, SHES, shares that of Sandy Hook Elementary School. Local dance and the arts instructors have combined their efforts to bring Newtown families and children an afternoon of dance and music with events, demonstrations, and workshops of tap, hip hop, modern dance, performances and even origami workshops.’ (courtesy of The Newtown Bee) It was so great to see so many different types of performances all under the same roof. All of the proceeds from the benefit are going towards a memorial garden in cooperation with Newtown Parks and Recreation. Many thanks to The Lathrop School of Dance, Arthur Murray of Danbury, Dance Etc., Graceful Planet, Gray School of Dance, Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet, The Children’s Music Network, and a very special guest appearance by the Washington CT, based contemporary dance and performance art group Pilobolus for their wonderful performances. It was such a moving day, one filled with lots of sharing, healing, expressive arts, strength, and most importantly…. Love.
Thank you to all who came and for your support. Please enjoy some of these very special moments from the days event. To see more… please email me Info@KariePetersonPhotography.com and I’ll send you a slideshow from the event. Many Thanks… Love, Karie

I have photographed a lot of Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s over the years, but I have never actually attended the ceremony before. I left with my jaw on the ground and my spirits lifted upon high. The ceremony was filled with song and exaltations! So spirited and full of life! The after party was held at Louie’s Italian Bar and Restaurant in Cos Cob CT, and was a quiet intimate affair with family and close friends. We captured some priceless candid portraits and I truly am so happy to have shared in this very special family milestone. Mazel Tov!
What a great venue The Grand in Stamford, CT is! Perfect size for a rocking party atmosphere. These kids knew how to bust a move on the dance floor that‘s for sure. The party went full force all night with DJ Bry on the mic. My favorite pictures of the night, for sure, had to be the guest of honor going all Willow Smith and shaking her head back and forth. Coming in as a runner up in favorite pictures is the full on back flip that another guest kept doing. Woah was it a crown pleaser!

I teamed up with an amazing team this year to put together a fabulous event. The Pomperaug High School Pre-Prom Party. We invited girls going to the PHS Prom to come get their hair, make up, and a perfect portrait done at Sylvia’s Colour and Design located in Southbury CT. We had a blast! These girls were so much fun. Some of them even brought their dresses and got ready at the Salon for the full experience. We ordered pizza and cranked up the tunes extra loud and talked all about their dates! It was a great experience for all of us. We wanted to feed the girls with excitement, enthusiasm and positive energy before they went out and celebrated such a huge milestone in their lives. The red carpet treatment is what we are all looking for and it is exactly what my team successfully achieved! These girls left feeling like movie stars.. and looked like it too! Christine, from Beauty by Christine is a ROCK STAR Make up Artist and the girls from Sylvia’s knocked it out of the park with those up-do’s! Amazing team, Beautiful girls and a Crazy good time!
This bridal show was like a ‘coming out’ party for Karie Peterson Photography. This was my first show I have ever done showcasing my own work. My entire Heart and Soul went into creating everything from scratch. My amazing fiancé re-purposed this rustic farm fresh wood that we found on a hike in New Milford and built me a frame to display all my work. All of my promotional material I custom designed, printed and hand trimmed my self and all of the table decorations I either had, was passed down by a family member, I repurposed out of something, or I bought at the Good Will. I love DIY projects and wanted to show all the brides to be that all of their DIY projects and all the little details that they are going to be put into their wedding day won’t be over looked or forgotten because I feel the same passion they do for every piece of the puzzle. I really enjoyed meeting all of the Brides-to-be and am very thankful to my cousin who selflessly volunteered to help me at my booth. There was such a huge turnout I would have been lost without her. A note to all of you Brides-to-be, if family is the most important part of your life, then I’m the photographer for you. If you love to DIY and being creative with what you have, then I’m the photographer for you. If you have nothing but love in your heart and passion in your soul, then ladies….I’m the photographer for you. Email me Weddings@KariePetersonPhotography.com or call the Studio 203.885.5597. I want to hear about your story, your journey, your ideas and then I want to show you how I can help you remember it forever.
Not snow, not sleet, not rain or wind can keep me away from doing what I love! I along with over 100 guests braved the horrible January storm just to celebrate M’s Bat Mitzvah. It may have been cold outside, but oh baby it was Hot at the After Party! Ceremony was at the beautiful Temple Sinai in Stamford CT. Followed by a delicious brunch at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan, but the real party started once we got to the Hottest Club in Stamford, 84 Park! This ultra lounge is super posh and all that dancing warmed everyone up from head to toe! Mazel Tov M! Thanks for letting me join in on your celebration!
Break out of the old boring blue background for school portraits and embrace the art that a portrait can be. I had the pleasure of working with Shining Stars Child Care located in Hamden CT. I photographed about 12 kids in all and we all had a blast. What a beautiful facility that Erica Bartke and Heather Walker put together. It’s amazing environment for these kids to grow, learn and be nurtured at there own comfortable pace.

Prom is such a milestone in your life it’s in my opinion a stepping stone to adult hood. When my youngest sister announced that as a Freshman she was asked to the Junior prom my first reaction was no no no no no (the exact same reaction my fater had too) but I was so happy to be apart of this experience for her and to capture this memory for the family album.
If you or someone you know has a special event or a special night planned call me 203.885.5597 and let me know. I would love to capture those memories for you, and trust me as much as I love my new iphone, don’t trust your memories to a phone put your trust in the eyes and hands of a professional.
Before there youngest son got confirmed the Britton Family called me up to do some family portraits. It’s times like these that mini sessions come in real handy in a half an hour we were able to capture some amazing family memories that the Britton’s will treasure for the rest of there lives. These images will hang on the staircase and over the mantel for years to come. That has to be the best part of my job, knowing that the image I create now will be treasured forever.
Renee and her husband Steve share a classic new age love story of two soul mates finding each other at a young age. They have been together almost as long as I have known Renee and her and I have been friends forever! 🙂
As Renee and I celebrated her engagement and discussed wedding plans I offered to photograph her entire wedding. She declined and said that instead she would be honored if I would be apart of the ‘getting ready’ segment of the day because she wanted a photographer that she felt comfortable around and that she trusted.
I couldn’t say yes quite fast enough. I was thrilled to be apart of all the pre-wedding rituals but the ‘which shoes do I wear’ debate was my favorite part ~Blue was totally the right choice! Renee you looked beautiful, and I wish you and Steve the happiest of lives together! Congratulations 🙂
On a lazy Saturday afternoon hanging in the studio with my little sis we decided to play around with my new backgrounds. I can’t believe how grown up she is and what an incredibly beautiful woman she’s turning into. I love spending time with her and she is so used to me clicking away around her she’s a natural in front of the camera, doesn’t it show!
Ok this session was so good I had to post them separately. Not only was it baby’s first Christmas this year but on 01/01/11 this gorgeous little girl turned 1! The cake was so fun, messy and most of all delicious!

Here is a little sample of another family session and their custom designed holiday card this year. We didn’t want to do the traditional green and red holiday card so we decided to go with brown and pink. Something new for the holidays we thought. I had to add the funniest candid too, I told the girls to give a kiss to brother and the result was hilarious!! I had to print it out and put it on my ‘inspiration’ wall to make me laugh all day!
I photographed this little guy to celebrate his christening. The objective was to create and design thank you cards from the session. He was so attentive, active and awfully handsome! The eyes on this one! Oh I just love it! The sweetest part of the session was after the shoot wrapped up. This little guy was so pooped he just fell right asleep. I had to take the camera out again, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to snag a couple detail shots. Of course these ‘extra’ shots turned out to be my favorites from the session. Check out how cute this one is!
