Rustic, timeless and stunning are just a few keywords that describe this wedding. We started the day getting ready at Shampoo One in East Hartford, CT. The girls popped the first bottle of Champagne at the salon and that was it… the party was officially started. Ceremony was held at the historic First Church of Christ in Wethersfield, CT. The reception was held down the street at the impressive Webb Barn. The gardens were amazing, full of bright vibrant colors and all of the little DIY Projects that the bride created made all the difference in the ambiance of the evening.
The love that this couple share for one another was evident the moment I met them. I just knew this wedding was going to be special! It was as if magic was in the air all day. It was a miracle when the pouring rain stopped the second the girls were done getting ready! There was so much warmth and positive energy that just radiated out of every person at this wedding. I felt as if I was attending a wedding of a close family member. It was a true honor to bear witness to such a true love story and am so pleased to share the memories and moments that captured your Wedding Day. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love!
The ever gorgeous Candlewood Inn in Brookfield Connecticut was the setting for this very special ‘destination’ wedding at the end of July. This couple came all the way from Arizona to get married with their family and friends in their hometown state of Connecticut. The day was perfect… except for one little thing… tornado warnings! In Connecticut can you believe it! The weather was nice enough to hold out till right after the formal portraits. It was such a blessing! That beautiful overcast light we were graciously granted by the wedding god’s made for some unbelievably beautiful portraits! The party went all night and the lights didn’t even flicker once! Happy to have been apart of your wedding. Congratulations!
Bonded over their love of movies and all things pop culture this couple sparked my creativity with their enthusiasm to do something different for their engagement portraits. While chatting over the phone for our pre-session consultation I found that the bride has a true love for the all time classic ‘Pretty Woman’ staring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere and she had the idea to reenact the scene where Richard Gere gives Julia Roberts the necklace. So romantic! I was flooded with a rush of great ideas and emotion…now if I could just had to find the right location…but of course…the ever faithful Edmond Town Hall in Newtown CT. The Staff at Edmond Town Hall is amazing and so accommodating with allowing us to use their facility, big thanks to Tom!! First we started in the Theater where I had the brilliant idea for the groom to act out the classic ‘yawn reach move’ during a movie. These images look great framed as a storyboard collection on the wall, tells such a story, and is super hilarious!
Scene change, outfit change and makeup and were ready for the reveal of the ‘Pretty Woman’. The bride to be looked amazing in her red dress and the groom…well ladies…he’s taken. We reenacted the scene perfectly, complete with the classic Julia laugh! Big thanks to my sweet heart too for all his help with lighting, and to Edmond Town Hall, the best movie theater ever! Congratulations to the happy couple! Lots of love to you both!

This bridal show was like a ‘coming out’ party for Karie Peterson Photography. This was my first show I have ever done showcasing my own work. My entire Heart and Soul went into creating everything from scratch. My amazing fiancé re-purposed this rustic farm fresh wood that we found on a hike in New Milford and built me a frame to display all my work. All of my promotional material I custom designed, printed and hand trimmed my self and all of the table decorations I either had, was passed down by a family member, I repurposed out of something, or I bought at the Good Will. I love DIY projects and wanted to show all the brides to be that all of their DIY projects and all the little details that they are going to be put into their wedding day won’t be over looked or forgotten because I feel the same passion they do for every piece of the puzzle. I really enjoyed meeting all of the Brides-to-be and am very thankful to my cousin who selflessly volunteered to help me at my booth. There was such a huge turnout I would have been lost without her. A note to all of you Brides-to-be, if family is the most important part of your life, then I’m the photographer for you. If you love to DIY and being creative with what you have, then I’m the photographer for you. If you have nothing but love in your heart and passion in your soul, then ladies….I’m the photographer for you. Email me Weddings@KariePetersonPhotography.com or call the Studio 203.885.5597. I want to hear about your story, your journey, your ideas and then I want to show you how I can help you remember it forever.
The Lounsbury House is one of my faviorate places to shoot a wedding, and I was so happy to be asked by a local sister studio, Kristen Jensen Photography, to photograph some of the event. I just wanted to share with you this amazing image that I was able to capture using the natural ambient light. Congrats to the happy couple and thanks for sharing your special day with me!
This was my first time at the Villa Rosa in Waterbury CT and let me tell you how nice it is! The ceremony area is gorgeous beautiful light and high vaulted ceilings and the grounds are built for a perfect picture every time.
Here is a little peak of Brooke and Cory’s wedding. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. The light was right and the weather was perfect! B+C, I have enjoyed so much watching your family grow over the years. I can’t wait to see what the future brings. Congratulations you two! Cheers
Renee and her husband Steve share a classic new age love story of two soul mates finding each other at a young age. They have been together almost as long as I have known Renee and her and I have been friends forever! 🙂
As Renee and I celebrated her engagement and discussed wedding plans I offered to photograph her entire wedding. She declined and said that instead she would be honored if I would be apart of the ‘getting ready’ segment of the day because she wanted a photographer that she felt comfortable around and that she trusted.
I couldn’t say yes quite fast enough. I was thrilled to be apart of all the pre-wedding rituals but the ‘which shoes do I wear’ debate was my favorite part ~Blue was totally the right choice! Renee you looked beautiful, and I wish you and Steve the happiest of lives together! Congratulations 🙂
Congratulations Pete and Lisa! You two are an amazing couple and I can’t wait to hear all about your new and exciting adventures as a married couple!
Their ceremony and reception were beautiful and tons of fun all of there family, friends, and ME had such a great time! What made the night even better and made for a flawless evening was seeing all of my favorite vendors come out to make this night unforgettable for Pete and Lisa too!! The hair and makeup was done by Dawns Pizzazz, Catering done by Tom Devine at Two Steps and the reception was at the famous Lounsbury House in Ridgefield CT, (one of my most favorite venues to shoot at) And of course me behind the camera!! Congrats you two! Many Happy Blessings!
I’m was so happy to be apart of this wedding because Michelle and Ely had one of the most unique ceremonies I have ever attended, let alone photographed! They got married on a Lobster boat in the middle of Long Island Sound! Boating is in my blood and I was so excited to be apart of this! We just barely missed the rain and were thankfully able to capture some really great images down on the beach. Once we headed back to port M + E hosted an amazing reception at Miamouge Yacht Club in Bridgeport, CT. Congratulations you two! Can’t wait to see you back down at the Club this summer!
Congratulations to my good friends M+J! Your wedding was beautiful! Fall weddings are my absolute favorite! All of the colors of the season really came together when we incorporated nature into your images. Much happiness to the both of you and I can’t wait to watch your love grow over the years!
The Meeting House at Yale University in New Haven Connecticut is the perfect place for a wedding for some of the best Alumni that school has ever seen. I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous couple and all of their friends and family. These are just a few shots that we snapped in the Houses guest rooms that were beautiful furnished and decorated. They are used mostly for traveling professionals and professors visiting and lecturing at the University, but for a brief moment in time we turned that room into a traveling wedding Portrait Studio. My Bride and groom were so easy-going not to mention a breeze to photograph and even though it was rainy outside there was plenty of happiness, love and sunshine in just that one room to light up the entire city of New Haven!!
This striking couple got hitched down in Greenwich CT on a private beach. They had a very small intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends, and it was a pleasure photographing them and snapping these model esq poses from them.
I just love Katie and Corey!!! Congratulations you two love birds!
Katie and Corey now live in North Carolina but came all the way up to their home town Danbury, CT to be married in front of all of their family and friends. Back home in North Carolina Corey is a Volunteer Fire Fighter so Katie and I decided to surprise Corey with portraits at the Stony Hill Fire Department. All the guys at the Fire Department were so helpful and really happy to help us. The polished up the truck nice for us and we were able to capture some awesome shots of their special day! Love you guys! Congratulations, and I can’t wait to see you back in our home town soon!
Nothing but sunshine is every Brides dream! And my bride and groom had the most beautiful day in August to get married. Sunshine, Great Weather, and surrounded by all of their friends and family at their outdoor wedding. Congratulations!
I just loved Rachel and Chris! They had such an amazing day for their wedding! Light House Point in New Haven CT is right on the beach overlooking Long Island Sound and the reception hall has a vintage working carousel inside! All the guests including my self had such an awesome time taking a ride on it!
