I was so thrilled when my friend Clare and her fiancé Joe got engaged! Even more thrilled when I was asked to be their wedding photographer! We had an incredible time during their engagement session starting at the vineyard and ending on … Continue reading
Our new Mama is so stunning! Her Pre-natal glow just radiated throughout her images and all the happiness and excitement filled the room during her session. I am so honored to have captured such a precious time in her life. I can not wait to meet baby Q! Stay tuned for a precious little newborn session happening very very soon.
Aimee and Michael are a match made in internet Heaven. Both were looking to meet the right person when Michael came across Aimee’s profile on Christian Mingle. After several emails and text messages, they finally decided to talk on the phone. That quickly led to an obvious next step – to meet in person. The first get together, or “super date,” was an all day affair. It started with church (a pretty safe place to meet a virtual stranger) and from there they went on to lunch, Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, shopping at the mall and a movie. Neither one wanted the date to end – it was love at first site. From day one they have been inseparable. By the end of that first date Michael knew he had met his future wife. (She was pretty sure too!)
So for such a special couple, I decided we had to pull out all the stops and recreate their ‘Super Date’. We started with some coffee and creativity at our favorite new roasting company, Redding Roasters in Bethel CT. Then stopped in at The Rainy Day book Store, right next door. Coffee and a Book… genius!! I love natural light and all things outdoors, so we made a quick stop where the light was just right, and warmed right back up with a trip to Molten Java and Byrds Books in Bethel, CT. It was so great to capture such variety within the same theme. Loved all of our locations and am very Thankful that all of the owners were thrilled to have us visit for a few portraits!
I can not wait for Aimee and Mike’s Wedding! I am thrilled to be apart of it!
Enjoy a taste of our session, and if you have any creative or unique ideas for your engagement session, I can’t wait to hear them! Email me: Info@KariePetersonPhotography and tell me all about it!
It’s so hard to plan when the weather is going to leave you with perfect picturesque mornings. It’s not like Mother nature send us reminder email or text messages. So this bride-to-be and I had a plan to out smart mother nature. We decided that if the weather report said that it was going to snow over night and be clear in the morning, than no matter what we were going to shoot for an early morning photo shoot. Thankfully God was on our side and we pulled it off even better than I had expected. The conditions were perfect, other than the fact that it was FREEZING! The Hot coco warmed everyone up though! Such a beautiful scene for an amazing couple! I am so looking forward to your wedding in October! I hope the fall colors are just as spectacular as the winter whites. This little one was such a cutie! She knew how to strike a pose every time. I thought the most special moment was when we did a Daddy and me series and she grabbed onto her Daddy’s leg just like I used to. Moments like these always bring me back to the root of why I’m a photographer. To capture timeless memories, and not just the ‘Hallmark’ timeless memories, the real ones, that you’ll remember your whole life. How you felt swinging on your dads legs, or when he would throw you up to the sky when you were playing.
Now the funniest moment is when we came inside to the studio to do some Holiday themed portraits and we tied this little munchkin up in Christmas lights! She was so into it, we laughed so hard the lights came unplugged. Oh what a great holiday card this series would make!
This session packed a lot of POWER behind it! Love, wonder and amazement are just a few of the key words that come to mind when I see the first portrait shown below. This little man was full of all of those elements that day, and I am so happy I captured it. His big sisters love him so much when we did our siblings series they all just tickled each other and laughed and held each other tight. I just love the ponchos’ that the girls are wearing too! Their grandmother hand knitted them just for this occasion. I love the bright colors and the bright lights! Merry Christmas to the Powers Family!
Always have to make time for my favorite little cousin clients! I have been photographing these kids since they were born and they just seem to get cuter and cuter every time we have a session. This time though, I called them the toothless wonder gang! They are growing up so fast I can’t wait till they are older and I can lay out a picture of every year to see how much they have grown. The wreaths were such a huge hit too! My fiancé made the wreaths from vines that we found hiking through Tarrywile Park. We later decorated the wreaths with silk flowers and gave them as Christmas gifts. Prop and a Present… doesn’t get much thriftier than that J
Our first Holiday Card design of the season is a big hit! We wanted to make sure we got it done in time for Hanukkah too so right after we returned from our trip to North Carolina we started booking, shooting, designing and creating some fantastic sessions. Excited to start diving into the season.
Good Golly Miss Molly! Every time I see this little wonder she just brightens me up all day! She is such a ham! It was hard to get her not to smile. Love the way the lights look in the background with her red Christmas jacket on, and what a stunning pose she did for us on the chair inside the studio. If this is any indication how my holiday sessions are going to go, then I’m feeling real good about it!

This was my first Celebrity look-a-like senior portrait. Doesn’t she look just like Kristen Stewart from the Twilight series? What a fun and creative session! We headed to some special locations in Bethel CT and captured the grunge, artsy, rock star feel we were going for. I always try and get to know my seniors before their sessions so we can create a session that fits their style and taste. It creates such a naturally comfortable environment, one where we both feel free to be as creative as possible. My senior told me she felt like a complete rock star which is the best compliment I could get as an artist. Hair and Makeup artistry was provided by Sara Keo.
It’s moments like these that are treasured for a lifetime. I remember how much fun I used to have taking bubble baths as a child, blowing the bubbles in the air, making a Santa beard and Mohawks out of bubbles. Memories I will never forget. I was so lucky to be able to capture such a special real moment for this family.
Loving these senior sessions and shooting at my favorite park in Danbury, CT. This beauty wanted a naturally rustic and organic feel to her senior portraits so I figured what better location than Tarrywile Park and Mansion for her session. The images really show off her inner goddess! Once we had a good laugh at me treading through the meadow stomping it down for her not to ruin her dress the session couldn’t have gotten any better.

This couple is very special to us here at Karie Peterson Photography! I was thrilled when I heard that Mike proposed! I couldn’t get on the phone fast enough once that infamous ring shot was posted to Facebook. I have known the Bride-to-be my whole life and of course knew the story of how this couple met, so we thought it would be hilarious to re-in act that fateful night and give Famous Pizza in Bethel, CT a little shout out too! The story goes, that one late Summer evening a group of friends were hanging out and here comes Lissa with her hot Famous Pizza’s. She goes to her hot rod of a Civic turns up Country music and sits on the roof of her car and starts chowing down. Now to everyone else there… that’s normal.. That’s just Lissa being Lissa but not to Mike… oh no… just as she had stolen his pepperoni right from off his pizza…she also made it off with his heart that night too. I can not wait to attend there wedding next year! It’s going to be filled with love, laughter… and hopefully… some Famous Pizza J
Love these little McCutties as there Mama says! They were so cool, calm and casual during their session like they had been born camera ready or something. We had a terrific time at my favorite Tarrywile Park and Mansion in Danbury CT. Children respond so well to being outdoors in a safe comfortable location and with Mom and Dad close by telling jokes and making silly faces we captured some great family memories. Here is just a glimpse of what we captured on this amazing spring day. This collection is going to look great on the wall!
Spring is here, and then yowza it’s cold again, that’s just good ol’ Connecticut for you, never know what the weather is going to bring. So hunny and I took advantage of a beautiful day and went for a walk around the neighborhood to see what we could draw inspiration from. He is a computer science major and loves fishing, hiking and cooking but has never really been too interested in taking pictures. This little inspiration walk that we took was not only good for us, but was his first Karie Peterson Photography ‘how do I work a camera’ lesson. I for the first time, gave him his own camera to shoot with and explained every setting and every angel I shot from. I had him mimic what I was doing and learn by doing. I think he is going to shape into a great assistant one day, but in the mean time hunny keep studying those books I gave you about that aperture and shutter thingy.
This bridal show was like a ‘coming out’ party for Karie Peterson Photography. This was my first show I have ever done showcasing my own work. My entire Heart and Soul went into creating everything from scratch. My amazing fiancé re-purposed this rustic farm fresh wood that we found on a hike in New Milford and built me a frame to display all my work. All of my promotional material I custom designed, printed and hand trimmed my self and all of the table decorations I either had, was passed down by a family member, I repurposed out of something, or I bought at the Good Will. I love DIY projects and wanted to show all the brides to be that all of their DIY projects and all the little details that they are going to be put into their wedding day won’t be over looked or forgotten because I feel the same passion they do for every piece of the puzzle. I really enjoyed meeting all of the Brides-to-be and am very thankful to my cousin who selflessly volunteered to help me at my booth. There was such a huge turnout I would have been lost without her. A note to all of you Brides-to-be, if family is the most important part of your life, then I’m the photographer for you. If you love to DIY and being creative with what you have, then I’m the photographer for you. If you have nothing but love in your heart and passion in your soul, then ladies….I’m the photographer for you. Email me Weddings@KariePetersonPhotography.com or call the Studio 203.885.5597. I want to hear about your story, your journey, your ideas and then I want to show you how I can help you remember it forever.
Not snow, not sleet, not rain or wind can keep me away from doing what I love! I along with over 100 guests braved the horrible January storm just to celebrate M’s Bat Mitzvah. It may have been cold outside, but oh baby it was Hot at the After Party! Ceremony was at the beautiful Temple Sinai in Stamford CT. Followed by a delicious brunch at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan, but the real party started once we got to the Hottest Club in Stamford, 84 Park! This ultra lounge is super posh and all that dancing warmed everyone up from head to toe! Mazel Tov M! Thanks for letting me join in on your celebration!
